Data Storytelling within Microsites
At Gro Intelligence, I contributed to the creation of a number of interactive microsites. I created brand assets and designed the user interface for various features, including data visualizations and interactive content.
Building the first microsite was a challenge because we were short the full requirements at first — the business had a rough idea of what they wanted to provide to users, and we content from our analysts, but the concept itself was not fully fleshed out. We were also under a significant time constraint to deliver something of value.
Therefore, we launched an MVP to gather data about user journeys, and iteratively added features with continuous releases in order to get us to the final version.
Summary
ROLE - USER INTERFACE VISUAL DESIGNER
TOOLS - FIGMA
PROJECT DURATION - 16 WEEKS
There were time constraints from the start, so we initially designed for business priorities, and then tested with real users after we made the sites live to the public.
Concepts & Testing
Data Visualizations
I was in charge of converting our data visualizations into components that could be reused across web applications as well as within our marketing materials. There were many use cases and special treatments overlayed and imbedded within each visualization, which made things challenging to standardize.
The final designs showcased various use cases and included an interactive map that led into a data “deep dive” for each country.
